Fancy a spot of lively South American culture during your stay in London? Guanabara is one of the capital’s most respected and popular Brazilian bars.
As you might expect, the bar specialises in putting on events and nights with a Brazilian theme. Typical events include South American DJs, Brazilian dance classes and even exhibitions of capoeira, the Brazilian martial art.
As well as DJs, live music is an important element of the bar. Live bands are plentiful, and their shows are always energetic and adrenalin fused. The bar also has various in house musicians, one of whom is a bongo drummer whose hands move so fast you can’t even see them hitting the drums at all – I thought the music was a CD playing in the background!
Of course, food and drink at the bar is also heavily Brazilian influenced. The food menu stocks a full range of entradas, pratos principais and sobremesas (that’s starters, main courses and desserts to the uninitiated), and there is also a great selection of short and long cocktails to choose from.
Guanabara is certainly a unique bar in London and can be a great night out for those wanting to forget the rain and enjoy some samba-infused good times!
